ER16 COLLET

An ER16 collet is a type of collet used in machining for holding tools like endmills, cutters, and drills. It is a standardized collet, part of the ER collet system, following the DIN 6499 standard. These collets are made from spring steel and fully hardened, offering a precise and reliable clamping mechanism for various machining operations

  ER16 collets are part of a standardized system, meaning they are interchangeable between different toolholding systems from various manufacturers. 

  • Material:

    They are typically made from high-quality spring steel, ensuring flexibility and durability. 

    • Clamping Range:

      ER16 collets have a specific clamping range, with the standard size range from 1mm to 10mm, but can also be found in fractional inch sizes. Some collets, like sealed ones for coolant-through applications, may not have a collapse range and need to be used at their exact size. 

      • Precision:

        ER16 collets are known for their high precision, with some versions offering run-out tolerances as low as 0.0008".

        • Applications:

          They are commonly used in CNC milling machines, routers, and lathes for holding various cutting tools and can also be used as workpiece holders. 

          • Coolant Through Capability:

            Some ER16 collets are designed for coolant-through applications, allowing for coolant to be delivered directly to the cutting tool. 

            • Dimensions:

              ER16 collets have specific dimensions, with the outer diameter (A) being 17mm and the length (B) being 27mm according to Lexis Tooling.
