ER20 COLLET

An ER20 collet is a type of collet chuck component used in machining for holding tools like end mills and drills. It's known for its versatility and precision, accommodating a range of tool shank sizes within a specific clamping range. The ER20 designation indicates its size within the broader ER collet system. 

• Function:

  ER20 collets are used to securely grip round-shank tools in milling machines, routers, and other precision machinery. 

  • Material:

    They are typically made from spring steel, hardened for durability and spring action. 

    An ER20 collet can typically clamp tools within a specific range, often 1mm to 13mm. The number on the collet indicates the largest tool diameter it can hold, but it can be collapsed to hold smaller sizes. 

    • Precision:

      ER20 collets are known for their precision, with runout (eccentricity of the tool) often specified as very low, such as 0.008mm or less. 

      • Installation:

        They are installed into an ER collet chuck or holder, and tightened with a collet wrench. 

        • Applications:

          Common applications include milling, drilling, reaming, tapping, and grinding.
